Problems in smoothing
Surface smoothing, Interfaces;Smooth surface..., fails for some interfaces. Curvature may even increase, especially close to the borders.
Try to change the smoothing parameters, or, if the surface is single-valued, use the function Interfaces;Smooth and resample... instead. -
Intersection of interfaces
Intersection between interfaces with coincident borders creates a lot of new, tiny interfaces along the border. Happens most commonly if some interfaces have been intersected, and the same intersection is repeated.
In Options>Interfaces>Intersect, set "Temporary extension" to 0.0. -
Storing a model takes a long time
To store a model as `ready for ray-tracing' may take a long time, but only if the interfaces in the model are new or are modified.
Store intermediate results as group/incomplete model. Store only the final model as `ready for ray-tracing'. -
Min/max plotting values
In plot parameters (Options > View > Plot): Lower/Step/Upper may be wrong if the unit has been changed in Options > Units.
Repeat the input of Lower/Step/Upper. -
Slow plot update when the hierarchy is changed
This can happen even when the changes do not change the plot.
In "Options>View>Update" switch "Major changes" from "Full ASAP" to "Explicit only". -
Inconsistent interface normal direction
In some cases the positive direction of the interface normal along some parts of an interface is opposite to the positive direction along other parts of the same interface. This may occur if there are some very thin, long, needle-like triangles in the interface, and especially if such triangles stretch all across the interface. To fix this, make the triangles more regular. There are different tools to fix this:
- ‘Interfaces > QC’ with the options ‘Flat triangles’ and ‘Try to repair’ enabled.
- ‘Interfaces > Smooth > Smooth and resample’, usually with the ‘Border’ option ‘Use to stamp out’ enabled.
- ‘Interfaces > Subdivide’
- The tools in ‘Primitives > Move > Single Vertex’ to move triangle vertices one by one.

Grids non conform in Multi Grid Geometry Builder
The Multi Grid Geometry Builder module requires that the grids have exactly the same sampling and origo. If you get this message, check your grids in Grid Utility. In this module you can see these parameters.
