      NORSAR-3D

This is a bugfix and stability improvement release.

It fixes a licensing issue for the wavefront batch tracer for NORSAR-3D Pro and Expert.

      In addition, several minor bugfixes.

      SeisRoX

This is a bugfix and stability improvement release.

It fixes several issues for the Full-field workflow:

      • Target cubes larger than 3 GB were corrupted on writing to file
      • Process stops if some shots are outside the model when tracing part is finished
      • Data cleanup problems if only one GF
      • Clean intermediate results if target geometry changed (only cleaned up workflow data before.) Could lead to inconsistency.
      • Combined tracer/full-field progress monitor. Display tracer logs.

In addition minor bugfixes and improvements.

    • NORSAR Software Suite 2016.1 (2016.1.35131, July 13, 2016)

      NORSAR-3D

This is a bugfix and stability improvement release.

      • Fixed a bug in the windows version that it runs only one tracer job when it can run more.
      • Changed default VS in Grid Layer Cake model builder to be VP/VS ratio

      SeisRoX

SeisRoX 2016.1 is a major upgrade of SeisRoX. It utilizes the advanced and proven NORSAR-3D Ray Tracer which is now embedded in the SeisRoX workflows. Also, new background model building tools are introduced, and performance is significantly improved by optimized calculation and parallel processing capabilities. In addition the GUI is improved and re-organized to be more user friendly.

The new SeisRoX is fully integrated in the NORSAR Software Suite platform and is available in two different configurations: Basic and Pro. SeisRoX Basic is part of SeisRoX Pro. The Pro version is the upgrade version for existing users.

SeisRoX is released under Linux and Windows
SeisRoX is backward compatible with older versions of SeisRoX project data.

      SeisRoX Basic

SeisRoX Basic is a flexible, efficient and easy-to-use seismic modelling software which rapidly simulates the seismic response of geological reservoir models including the effects of a complex 3D overburden and source-receiver illumination/resolution effects.
SeisRoX Basic focuses on a local scale and contains three types of workflows:

      • Analytic workflows: Tools to do fast track modelling when background model or survey is not available or to study the effect of a user-designed PSDM filter
      • Four different local-target workflows to do complete PSDM simulations with background model and survey
      • Utility workflows for generating property cubes and time-convolution (1D)

      SeisRoX Pro

SeisRoX Pro includes all the Basic functionality, and in addition it contains a full-field PSDM simulation workflow. With the Pro version, larger scale modelling is done by utilizing space-varying Point Spread Functions. Detailed studies of the space-varying PSF's can be done with the new PSF focusing map.

SeisRoX Pro also includes Rock Physics transformations to describe and calculate the relationship between geological properties and the effective (average) elastic and seismic properties to be used in the modelling. With the Rock Physics functionality the seismic response of rock property changes can be studied.

In addition minor bug fixes and improvements.

    • NORSAR Software Suite 2016 (2016.0.34819, June 15, 2016)

This is a bugfix and stability improvement release. It fixes an issue where NORSAR-3D Pro and Expert tools would not start on newer Linux versions.

    • NORSAR Software Suite 2016 (2016.0.34767, June 8, 2016)

This is a bugfix and stability improvement release for Windows. It fixes an issue for the Windows version where IMAPs could not be plotted.

    • NORSAR Software Suite 2016 (2016.0.34492, May 9, 2016)

The new NORSAR Software Suite is a common framework for NORSAR software and consists of NORSAR-3D and SeisRoX.

      NORSAR-3D 2016
NORSAR-3D 2016 unveils a revolutionary new user interface for the NORSAR software. It makes the advanced and proven NORSAR-3D technology available in a completely new and simplified user experience.

The new NORSAR-3D is available in three different configurations: Basic, Pro and Expert. NORSAR-3D Basic is part of NORSAR-3D Pro and NORSAR-3D Pro is part of NORSAR-3D Expert.

The NORSAR-3D Pro version is the upgrade version for existing customers.

NORSAR-3D Basic is released on both Windows and Linux while Pro and Expert are currently available on Linux.

NORSAR-3D 2016 is backward compatible with older versions of NORSAR-3D project data.

NORSAR-3D Basic is designed to perform kinematic illumination studies of any type of acquisition survey. Model elements, like surfaces and attributes can be imported or defined and user-friendly model builders can be used to set up model geometries and elastic properties. The software contains the modelling tools, Illumination Rays and Illumination Maps and runs on Linux and Windows.

      Import
Allows the user to build a model from externally available model elements, interfaces, property grids and cubes, point sets and polylines as well as surveys like P1/90 and SPS surveys can be imported.

      Model Builder
In many cases, simple models can be used for initial illumination studies and first survey planning steps. The basic version supports therefore to build models, e.g. if there only is a property cube, a single target horizon, or a stack of horizontal interfaces that are not interacting in a way that needs any specific consideration, preprocessing or modification

      Single Block Model Builder
Here, only one property cube is used. The property cube can either be imported or generated by simple layer cake models.

      Single Reflector Model Builder
In order to generate Illumination maps a target reflector is required. The model properties above and below the target reflector can be set by either selecting property cubes or set to constant.

      Grid Layer Cake Model Builder
The grid layer cake models can contain various surfaces which separate the layers. The property values are either constant or gradients.

      Illumination Rays
For a systematic and comprehensive analysis of ray propagation, the illumination rays workflows should be used. Here, many target points can be analyzed, and all reflection angles and azimuths are taken into account. The results for each target point are shown in a survey- and a target-domain rose diagram.

      Illumination Maps
Illumination maps show how well a target horizon is illuminated by a survey. The basic map is the hit map, which displays for a specific survey how many rays from shots to receivers reflect on the different parts of the horizon. Shadow zones clearly stand out on hit maps

NORSAR-3D Pro includes the Basic version and in addition a comprehensive set of tools and workflows to build complex models and do illumination studies and survey planning of any type of acquisition geometries. Major new features in this version are the S-wave anisotropy in transversely isotropic media (VTI, HTI and TTI).  Furthermore, this new version contains significant improvements on the survey import (SPS) and the wavefront tracer with respect to memory handling and performance.

      Survey
      Improved SPS survey import

      • Significant increase of performance importing SPS files for irregular surveys
      • Significant less disc storage for imported SPS survey
      • Keeping shot and receiver topology for imported SPS survey

      Wavefront Tracer

      • Introducing of S-wave anisotropy (TI anisotropy)
      • Improved S-wave source
      • Ray code improvements (transparency off)

      Seismogram Generator
Generation of seismograms for anisotropic models with S-wave ray codes.

      IMAP/SMA
All illumination maps are updated to handle S-waves in anisotropic media.
Introduction of standard deviation for all attribute maps

      Model Builder
      See under NORSAR-3D Basic.

NORSAR-3D Expert includes the Pro version and in addition unlimited batch processing capabilities and access to the project results to do in-depth analysis or tailored applications. Main new feature in this version is the introduction of the Kirchhoff Target migration workflow.  Furthermore, this new version supports the extraction of S-wave anisotropy parameters from calculated event set.

      Kirchhoff Target Modelling
New Kirchhoff Target migration workflow is introduced. It can be used to generate migrated sections from Kirchhoff prestack data.

      Event Attribute Extractor
Adaption due to S-waves in anisotropic media (TI)
